Registrar and Academic Counseling Specialist

Founded in 2014, East Bay Innovation Academy (EBIA) is proud to be a free public charter school bringing project-based curriculum, social emotional emphasis, design thinking, and blended learning to students in Oakland, California. 
You will:
  • Work closely with the Director of College and Career Readiness and the Director of Student Data to support Registrar and Academic Counseling duties. 
  • As Registrar Specialist you will manage student academic record keeping. 
    • Assist in all transcript related work, including: creation, audit, verification, transfer credits and special circumstances, fulfilling requests from other schools/agencies
    • Become an expert on the Student Information System (SIS), managing collection/input of student data, auditing for completeness and accuracy, creating reports that inform (eg Report Cards) and analyze (eg demographic academic performance)
    • Be a key player in our upcoming transition to a new SIS, both as a project manager and analyst. You will collaborate with stakeholders to define, calendar, and complete interim goals to successfully launch PowerSchool in 2021. You will format and audit existing SIS data for transfer; perform rigorous and thorough QA in the new system; work with stakeholders and vendor to ensure proper features and functionality; work on implementation and roll-out
  • As Academic Counseling Specialist you will manage student scheduling
    • Partner  with the Principal and school leadership to create the High School Course Catalog
    • Assist in the creation of the Master Schedule to strategically balance course offering overlap and teacher schedules
    • Manage student course registration, including course change requests
    • Ensure that each student’s schedule keeps them on track with graduation requirements
You have:
  • Experience managing and analyzing large data sets with the highest level of accuracy
  • Proven ability to learn and apply complex interrelated policies
  • Project management experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant major, or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to create and take ownership in a start-up environment
  • Ability to work successfully with heterogeneous groups of students and an ethnically & economically diverse student body.
  • A strong belief that all students can learn at the highest levels and that all students can be successful in college.
  • Flexibility and adaptability; ability to work in a dynamic, creative and demanding learning environment.
  • A dedication to professional growth, including learning new and innovative theories and practices.
  • High proficiency in using technology, and interested in the potential of technology to impact urban education.
 You may also have:
  • Experience in K-12 Education
  • Working knowledge of Spanish.
