East Bay Innovation Academy is a 6-12 college preparatory public charter school in Oakland, CA with a mission of preparing a diverse group of students to be successful in college and to be thoughtful, engaged citizens who are leaders and innovators in a 21st century global world. Through personalization and project-based learning, social-emotional learning and design thinking, and by leveraging best practices in curriculum design and technology, EBIA engages students in rigorous, 21st Century work. We serve a diverse population of students, representing the racial, cultural, and socio-economic diversity of the Bay Area.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
INNOVATIVE: Design and run the after school a drop-in space for 6th through 8th grade, including: creating a program of outdoor activities that is organized, exciting, and provides variety. establish rapport with students and promote inclusion, good sportsmanship, and a love for physical challenges.
ENTREPRENEURIAL: Be a key player in the development of the school, including being a leader and assisting in the development and implementation of school policies and programs.
COLLABORATIVE: Be a true partner alongside school staff and families in the academic and social-emotional success of students Build a culture of high expectations offering differentiated support for all learners.
OPTIMISTICS: Assist in administrative duties as requested by the After School Coordinator. Act as an after school instructor, supporting the after school coordinator in developing a robust program that enriches the student experience.
ENGAGING: Be ready to bring your passions, projects and skills to EBIA. Demonstrate excitement about learning and engaging children in learning; attempt to know every student at EBIA and establish rapport with students and promote inclusion, good sportsmanship, and a care to every student in the After Care program.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Ability to work successfully with heterogeneous groups of students and an ethnically & economically diverse student body.
Flexibility and adaptability to change; ability to work in a dynamic, creative and demanding learning environment.
Experience creating and engaging in variety programs, with structured and unstructured projects, and offerings suited to many skill levels with an emphasis on middle school aged students.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues and to adapt projects and classroom structures to the needs of the program with a welcoming and sunny disposition.
Highly organized, resourceful, and self-starter. Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and multi-task.
Excellent communication skills; you will be communicating with parents, faculty, students and other community members.
Preferred
Working knowledge of another language.
Knowledge of project based learning, social-emotional learning, and blended/optimized learning.
BA/BS in Education, Recreation or Subject Area
