East Bay Innovation Academy (EBIA) is a public charter school in Oakland, CA serving students in grades 6-8. Our mission is to prepare a diverse group of students to succeed in college and to become thoughtful, engaged citizens who are leaders and innovators in a 21st-century global world. Key Responsibilities:
Implement the academic program in close collaboration with the Principal to ensure high expectations and rigorous outcomes for all students.
Serve as the school’s primary instructional coach by providing regular observations and feedback to staff aligned to the EBIA Instructional Framework.
Coach and evaluate teachers to ensure their environments are aligned to state and school standards, rigorous and well-managed.
Sustain a positive and supportive staff culture grounded in trust, risk-taking, respect, reflective practice, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Plan and facilitate professional development with support from the leadership team.
Facilitate staff data analysis following interim assessments to shift instructional practices and address learning gaps in real-time.
Co-facilitate the Coordination of Services Team (COST) with the Principal to triage student referrals and ensure academic and behavioral interventions are data-driven.
Serve as the administrative designee (LEA) in IEP meetings when other team members are unavailable.
Serve as the primary Site Coordinator for state testing including CAASPP, ELPAC, and MAP while managing proctor training and secure materials.
Support the Principal with talent management including the hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of high-quality staff.
Support the school culture team in maintaining a consistent learning environment through high visibility during times such as transitions, lunch, and arrival/dismissal.
Manage campus logistics by supporting the Office Manager with internal substitute coverage
Serve as the administrator on duty when the Principal is off-site.
Build and maintain trustworthy and collaborative relationships with students, staff, and families to ensure concerns are addressed in a timely and constructive manner.
Support school enrollment and retention efforts to ensure the campus remains fully enrolled with a robust waiting list.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Masters degree in Teaching, Education, School Administration, or related field.
Valid California Administrative Services Credential (or eligibility).
Minimum of 5 years of teaching adolescent students in an urban school setting.
Preferred minimum of 2 years leading in an urban school setting.
Bilingual fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred to effectively serve EBIA's Multilingual Learner community.
Must possess or be willing to obtain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification upon hire. Training in Restorative Justice facilitation is highly preferred.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This is a 12-month position. EBIA offers a competitive salary range of $110,000-120,000 for its Assistant Principals and robust benefits including medical, dental and retirement. More details can be provided upon request.
