Are you interested in preparing students to be innovators and leaders? East Bay Innovation Academy is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and passionate Restorative Justice Coordinator.
 
East Bay Innovation Academy is a 6-12 college preparatory public charter school in Oakland, CA with a mission of preparing a diverse group of students to be successful in college and to be thoughtful, engaged citizens who are leaders and innovators in a 21st century global world.  Through personalization and project-based learning, social-emotional learning and design thinking, and by leveraging best practices in curriculum design and technology, EBIA engages students in rigorous, 21st Century work.  We serve a diverse population of students, representing the racial, cultural, and socio-economic diversity of the Bay Area.
 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Employee shall work as a Restorative Practices Coordinator, with the following general duties:
 
Restorative Practices
  • Design and lead professional development for teachers
  • Train Advisors in Restorative Practice and different types of circles
  • Conducting Harm Circles/Mediations between students, staff and families
 
Advisory
  • Creating advisory SEL Restorative Practice units and lessons
  • Collaborate with advisors and advisory teams to create a restorative culture in all advisories
 
Counseling
  • Implement academic and/or social emotional skill based counseling with a small caseload of general education students
  • Implement group counseling groups in the areas of social skills and academic skills
 
COST/SST  
  • Facilitate bi-weekly or weekly Collaboration of Services Team meeting
  • Create systems for referrals to the Collaboration of Services Team.
  • Facilitate Student Support Team meetings and help to manage data, based on interventions created.
 
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
  • Support lower school administration team in daily school culture and climate tasks
  • Collaborate with administration team and teachers to support positive student behavior
 
These duties may be amended from time to time in the sole discretion of EBIA.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with the Restorative Justice model
  • Experience supporting students and designing programming for students.
  • A strong belief that all students can learn at the highest levels and that all students can be successful in college.
  • Self-starter, willing to innovate and create.
  • Ability to work successfully with heterogeneous groups of students and an ethnically & economically diverse student body.
  • Highly proficient in using technology and interested in the potential of technology to impact urban education.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change; ability to work in a dynamic, creative and demanding learning environment.
Preferred
  • Working knowledge of another language.
  • Knowledge of project based learning, social-emotional learning, and blended/optimized learning.
